Italian giants Roma have completed the signing of Antonio Rüdiger from Stuttgart on a season long loan deal
Roma have been very active in the transfer market this summer but after having sold two key defenders in Alessio Romagnoli and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa recently, the Italian side were in need of bringing in a new centre back.
Identifying the need, Roma have now wasted no time whatsoever by moving on to secure the services of Antonio Rudiger from Stuttgart on a season long loan deal, with a view to make the move permanent.
Confirming the arrival of Rudiger on their official website, Roma released the following statement, “AS Roma are pleased to announce that German defender Antonio Rüdiger has joined on a season-long loan from Stuttgart for a fee of €4 million.
“The agreement also includes the option to make the transfer permanent from the 2016-17 season for a fee of €9 million.”
Rudiger was happy to have completed his move to Roma and stated that he is hoping to guide the Italian side to the Scudetto this season.

Rudiger joins Roma
The German international said, “I’m absolutely delighted to be able to wear the Roma jersey. I’ve come here to win titles, to win the Scudetto. I would like to thank all the Roma fans and promise them that I will give everything for this club.
“I play center-back and I can also play right-back but I prefer to operate in the middle. As for my style of play, I play hard, I love to tackle and I’m quick too but there’s a lot of things I have to improve in my game.”
Rudiger broke into the Stuttgart first team back in 2011 as a teenager and has since gone on to forge a reputation for himself as one of the finest young defenders in the world with his performances over the last few years.
Despite playing in a struggling Stuttgart side, Rudiger has managed to produce solid performances and the defender could well thrive in a more successful side such as Roma.
