Real Madrid striker Jese Rodriguez is considering leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, according to his agent
Following his stunning exploits with the Real Madrid Castilla side during the 2012/13 season, Jese Rodriguez was promoted into the first team and many felt at the time that the young striker could potentially follow in the footsteps of club legend Raul.
Jese enjoyed a fruitful debut campaign with Madrid, scoring 8 goals in 31 appearances and playing a role in helping the Spanish side claim their historic 10th Champions League title.
The following campaign proved to be a bit difficult for Jese as a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee limited the striker to only 16 league appearances.
Having put his injury woes behind him over the summer, Jese started the current campaign with a lot of optimism and many felt that the 22-year old could potentially flourish under new manager Rafael Benitez.
Unfortunately though, Jese has surprisingly not been handed regular minutes on the pitch by Benitez and having featured for only 132 minutes of Premier League action so far, it is clear to see that the striker is well down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu under the current regime.
As a result, there have been a lot of talks in recent times that Jese could well consider leaving his beloved Madrid upon the reopening of the transfer window in January and the likes of Inter Milan, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all been mentioned as potential destinations for the striker.
Now to fuel speculation regarding Jese’s potential exit from Madrid, his agent, Gines Carvajal, has gone on to reveal that the striker is hoping to earn more game time under his belt and if that is not possible, he will be leaving the club.
Speaking to Radio Marca, Carvajal said, “What he needs is to play more, he needs to play more because that gets the spirits of the players up.
“It’s very tough and that’s why the club will need to make a decision. He’s fine, he’s training well, he’s strong, but when he doesn’t play… You can see that other players are not not right when they don’t play. He needs to take advantage of any opportunity when he gets it.”
