Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez has played down rumors linking him with a move to Real Madrid by stating that he is perfectly happy at the Emirates Stadium
Many felt that Arsenal had pulled off a major coup by securing the £35million signing of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona last summer but even the Chilean superstar’s biggest fans would not have expected the winger to enjoy such a brilliant debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium.
Sanchez delighted the Arsenal fans with his sensational performances throughout the course of the campaign and his 25 goals in 52 appearances went a long way in helping the Gunners claim their second consecutive FA Cup triumph as well as a respectable 3rd placed finish in the Premier League table.
Having enjoyed such a wonderful debut campaign, Sanchez has unsurprisingly gone on strength to strength to start the current season in fine fashion and having already scored 6 goals in 10 appearances so far, many believe that Arsenal could achieve great things with their star man spearheading the way.
Given Sanchez’s fine form, the media have also been quick to link the Chilean star with a move away from the Emirates Stadium and reports emerging out of Spain had claimed that Real Madrid were considering a swoop for Sanchez.
To refute claims regarding his potential move to Madrid though, Sanchez has gone on to reveal that he is perfectly happy at Arsenal at the moment and added that thoughts of leaving the Premier League giants anytime soon has not even entered his mind.
Speaking to La Tercerea, Sanchez said, “I have no idea about what is being said. I feel comfortable at Arsenal, with my teammates. I’m not thinking of leaving here, I’m happy.
“Happy for my presence in the line-up, and I never settle for anything. I think in the present. I always set myself goals and push myself to be the best I can be.”
With talks regarding Sanchez’s potential exit emerging, it was recently claimed that Arsenal were planning to offer the winger a new bumper deal at the club.
Sanchez is already believed to be pocketing around £140,000-per week and Arsenal are said to be open to exponentially increasing the Chilean’s wages by offering terms close to the 200K region, which would make him the North London side’s highest earner ahead of attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil.
