Barcelona preparing a huge £72million offer for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio

According to shock reports from the Daily Mail, Barcelona are believed to be plotting an ambitious swoop for Marco Asensio from fierce rivals Real Madrid.

The new La Liga season will start next week while for Barcelona, they will be kicking off their campaign this weekend with a clash against rivals Real Madrid in the Super Cup.

It has to be said that Barcelona do not head into the clash in the best of shapes as they have lost the services of key player Neymar and the Catalans have not been able to bring in a replacement for the Brazilian superstar as of yet.

Barcelona’s pursuit for Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele has been well documented but they have faced huge frustrations in their hopes of signing the two players as Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have both maintained that they want to keep hold of their respective stars.

As a result, Barcelona have had to look at transfer targets elsewhere and now in shock reports from the Daily Mail, claims have been made that the La Liga giants are currently considering a swoop for Real Madrid youngster Marco Asensio.

Asensio enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for Real Madrid last season, playing important roles in the club’s La Liga as well as Champions League triumphs and the 21-year-old is currently considered as one of the hottest prospects in European football.

Therefore, the attacking midfielder has been touted as the future of Real Madrid and manager Zinedine Zidane clearly rates the young man very highly.

Barcelona certainly could do with a player of Asensio’s quality and it is believed that Ernesto Valverde’s side are looking to launch an audacious £72 million offer for the Spanish international.

Asensio has a £72million release clause on his contract at Madrid and it is believed that Barcelona are hopeful of luring the attacker to the Nou Camp with a lucrative contract offer.

However, it does look like Barcelona’s pursuit of Asensio is unlikely to be coming into fruition as he has already managed to establish himself at Real Madrid and swapping the Santiago Bernabeu for the Nou Camp would surely put him under huge pressure due to the animosity between the two sets of fans.
