Gianluigi Buffon reveals Ronaldo to be his toughest opponent

Legendry goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, has revealed in a recent interview that the Brazilian legend Ronaldo was the toughest striker he has ever faced in his career.

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, now more popularly known as the Brazilian Ronaldo, is undoubtedly a true legend of the game and this can be testified by the fact that the striker won two World Cups for his national team as well as successfully played for top teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan among others, throughout his illustrious career.

El Phenomenon, who is a still household name despite his retirement back in 2011, is regarded as one of the best players of all time by many fans and fellow footballers alike and one of the professionals who regards the Brazilian to be the absolute best, is the legendary Italian goal keeper Gigi Buffon.

Buffon played against Ronaldo when the Brazilian featured for Inter Milan and AC Milan in the Serie A and according to the veteran goalkeeper; the former forward caused him greater trouble than any other player.

In a recent interview, Buffon said that he believed the Brazilian was the “perfect player” and went so far as to claiming that the forward was made in a laboratory.

Buffon told Marca, “The striker who caused me all kinds [of trouble] was Ronaldo, the Brazilian one. He was the perfect player, as he had power, speed, intuition technical skills and quickness. He was a jaw-dropping player. It seemed like he was created in a lab.”

The Italian’s comments come with a lot of weight as he has played against some of the best players in the sport, including the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo won multiple trophies during his career which includes two World Cup trophies with the Brazilian national team and numerous domestic titles with Cruzeiro, PSV, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Corinthians.

El Phenomenon also won numerous personal awards which include the FIFA World Player of the Year thrice, the Ballon D’or twice and a FIFA World Cup Golden Ball.

It is clear to see that Ronaldo won almost everything there is to win as a player and created a legacy unlike any other. His exploits for the Brazilian team in particular, will arguably be among his most revered achievements.
