Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected a move to Chelsea in hopes of signing for Liverpool before the window closes, according to the Daily Mail.
The English winger has been continuously subject of interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea this summer as he enters the final year of his contract at Arsenal and the Gunners are now looking to cash in on the attacker after he rejected a lucrative new offer.
It has been widely reported that Chelsea had a bid accepted by Arsenal of around £35 million for the winger but now in a stunning turn of events, the player seems to have rejected the opportunity to sign for the Blues in hopes of making a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool instead.
Reports state that a formal inquiry has recently been made by Liverpool for Oxlade-Chamberlain and the transfer might be completed as early as Thursday morning.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had rejected a new contract worth almost £180,000-a-week at Arsenal earlier this week and has been very open about his desire to leave the Emirates Stadium to further his career.
Despite the situation, Arsene Wenger had expressed his desire to keep hold of the player and he will surely be very disappointed at the prospect of losing the former Southampton star after years of nurturing him intp a top talent.
It will also be a blow for the Gunners to lose one of their best players to direct rivals in Liverpool, should the move go through.
Their latest export to a rival side was the sale of Robin van Persie to Manchester United in 2012, who single handedly helped the Red Devils win the Premier League title that season and the Arsenal faithful will hope that Oxlade-Chamberlain won’t be as successful as the flying Dutchman after his exit from Arsenal, whether he moves to Chelsea or Liverpool.
