Arsenal are interested in signing Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich to replace star winger Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Mirror.
It was well documented that Sanchez failed to get his desired move to Manchester City from Arsenal this summer and there is a danger for the Gunners that he will be out of contract and available for free in July, should manager Arsene Wenger fail to convince the attacker to stay at the Emirates.
With the Chilean almost sure to move on from North London in the foreseeable future, Arsenal are already believed to be looking around for any possible replacements for the 28-year-old and recent reports from the Daily Mirror suggest that they will make a move for Bayern’s Thomas Muller in the upcoming transfer windows.
Previously, Arsenal were said to be keen on Monaco’s Thomas Lemar as a realistic replacement for Sanchez, but after the move broke down on transfer deadline day, the North London side are now said to be interested in making a swoop for Muller.
Despite being just 27, Muller has won everything there is to win at both club and international level, and the attacker is undoubtedly a world class talent who would be a more than capable replacement for Sanchez at Arsenal.
Muller is one of the most unorthodox players in world football and has revolutionized the Raumdeuter (space investigator) position in front of goal. His ability, both on and off the ball as well as a knack of getting important goals, has earned him many admirers all around Europe.
With the German international struggling to find form under manager Carlo Ancelotti recently and his stock going down over the past season, he might be tempted to a move elsewhere and Arsenal could prove to be an attractive option.
The Gunners have also been linked with a move for the previously mentioned Lemar as well as Juan Cuadrado, Arda Turan and Leon Goretzka among others over the past few weeks. All these players have unique skill set and it will be interesting to see who Arsenal will successfully land in the coming transfer window.
Muller is arguably a better option than the aforementioned talented players and it will be a major coup for Arsenal should they land the superstar attacker.
