New Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva wants his side to complete the signing of former Monaco teammate Kylian Mbappe.
Manchester City have certainly made a huge splash in the transfer market this summer by acquiring the services of Benjamin Mendy, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, Ederson and Danilo for an outlay of well over £200million.
Despite such a huge spending spree, manager Pep Guardiola still does not seem to be done with his business in the transfer market as of yet and there have been widespread reports in recent times that City could well go on to splash the cash in order to acquire the services of Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe before the end of the summer transfer window.
Mbappe has managed to grab the attention of some of the very best teams in the world with his breakout performances for Monaco last season and European Champions Real Madrid are said to be ready to splash as much as £133million to acquire the 18-year-old.
Along with Madrid, Manchester City are one of the very few other teams that are capable of affording Mbappe and reports in recent times have been gathering steam which have claimed that the Citizens will give Los Blancos competition in the race for the French sensation.
Bernardo Silva is well aware of Mbappe’s tremendous qualities, having played a crucial role alongside the attacker to lead Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season and the Portuguese international has gone on to urge his new team to sign the brightest young prospect in world football ahead of Madrid.
Speaking after Manchester City won 3-0 against West Ham in Reykjavik on Friday, Silva said of his former teammate, “I haven’t spoken to Mbappe – but he is a great player as well. I would love to have him here, and you never know, but that is for City to decide.
“He can be a superstar – in fact, I think he is already a little bit of a superstar. He is a great player to play with because he is so intelligent with his movement. He can be one of the best in the world very soon.”
Signing a player of Mbappe’s qualities will surely be a huge reinforcement to the already talented Manchester City attacking lineup and it will be interesting to see if indeed the Premier League giants are able to land the teenager this summer.
