Premier League giants Chelsea have announced that they have completed the signing of Abdul Baba Rahman from Augsburg
Following the departure of Filipe Luis this summer, Chelsea had been in the market to sign a new left back and it was widely reported that the Blues were eyeing a move for Augsburg star Abdul Baba Rahman as a replacement for the Brazilian.
Rahman had been one of the most impressive young full backs in Europe over the last few years and as a result, Chelsea were said to be eyeing a swoop for the defender international.
It can now be confirmed that Chelsea have managed to secure the services of Rahman. Confirmation has been made through Chelsea’s official website that the club have reached an agreement to sign Rahman for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of around £21million and the defender has signed a long term deal with the Blues.
Confirming the arrival of Rahman, Chelsea released the following statement, “Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we have reached an agreement with FC Augsburg for the transfer of Abdul Baba Rahman.

Rahman joins Chelsea
“The 21-year-old Ghanaian international was a member of his country’s Africa Cup of Nations squad which finished runners-up to Ivory Coast in February.”
Upon the confirmation of the transfer, Rahman stated that although it was not an easy decision for him to leave Augsburg, he simply could not pass up on the fantastic opportunity of joining a huge club such as Chelsea.
“I have made this decision and it is really not easy because I felt good at Augsburg,” the Ghana defender told the Augsburg’s official website.
“But the move to England is a very big opportunity for me to play at a top club like Chelsea, so I would like to take this step. I am really looking forward to playing with many great footballers.”
Rahman only joined Augsburg at the start of last season but he impressed during his 31 appearances for the club and his performances went a long way in helping the German side claim an improbable place in the Europa League.
At 21, Rahman most certainly can develop into a fine left back in the years to come and he will be giving Cesar Azpilicueta a tough fight for a regular spot in the Chelsea lineup this season.
