Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he would attempt to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale if the attacker were to be available.
Real Madrid’s admiration for Monaco superstar Kylian Mbappe is certainly no secret and it is believed that Los Blancos are currently attempting to acquire the services of the 18-year-old, with a bid of up to £133million being touted in the media.
If indeed Madrid are able to sign Mbappe, it is believed that the Spanish giants will have to sell one of their current stars in order to balance the books and there have been widespread reports that the man the European Champions will be sacrificing if the French international arrives is Gareth Bale.
Bale has consistently been linked with a move back to England over the past few seasons and Manchester United are the club that have incessantly been backed to sign the Welsh superstar who is believed to be available for around £90million.
United will be coming up against Bale in the UEFA Super Cup final at the Philip II Arena, Skopje in Macedonia and ahead of the game, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has put fuel to the fire regarding the rumors by stating that he would ‘fight’ with other coaches in order to acquire the ex-Tottenham Hotspur star if he were to be available for a transfer.
When asked on Monday about trying to buy Bale, Mourinho said, “Well if he’s playing tomorrow, no I wouldn’t think of that. It’s because he’s in the coach’s plans and the club’s plans, because he also has that motivation to continue at Real Madrid. So I haven’t even thought about the possibility.
“If he is not in the club’s plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him on their team. But if he plays tomorrow, that is the best confirmation that he is wanted by the team.”
