Liverpool have reportedly made a bid of around £55.5 million for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to Sky Sports.
Thomas Lemar had been linked with a move to Arsenal all summer before the North London side were told that the French winger was not available for sale.
However, the recent Liverpool bid of around £55.5million comes only a week after Arsene Wenger admitted that Monaco had “closed the door” for a possible move for Lemar and any decision on the offer from the Reds is yet to be made.
It will be interesting to see whether Monaco will keep hold of their star player now, especially after rejecting the advances of Arsenal recently.
Most of the Monaco first team players have been linked with a move away since their Ligue 1 triumph last season and the likes of Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko have already moved elsewhere. There are currently also doubts over the future of Djibril Sidibe, Kyalian Mbappe and Fabinho.
As a result, Monaco are desperately trying to hold onto their remaining best players as they prepare a new challenge in both the domestic and European fronts.
However it is looking increasingly difficult for the French champions to keep their exciting talents at the club, with recent reports suggesting that stand out performer Mbappe is very close to a move to joining PSG.
The recent Liverpool bid for Lemar will surely be unwelcome news for the French Champions, who will hope that the transfer window will close as soon as possible and the Reds will surely have to move fast in order to sign the 21-year-old this summer.
With the transfer window inching closer to an end, more and more clubs will be desperate to sign new players and consequently this might mean further doubts over some of Monaco’s already unsettled squad.
