According to reports from the Daily Record, Barcelona will be able to sign Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho for a price of around £137million.
Barcelona are desperate to sign a replacement for Neymar as soon as possible and it has been no secret to see that the Catalan giants have viewed Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is the ideal candidate to fill in the void left by the Brazilian superstar.
The La Liga outfit are already said to have placed numerous bids for Coutinho, with the latest being worth £90million but all of them have been rejected by Liverpool as the club have stubbornly stated that the 25-year-old will not be leaving Anfield this summer for any price.
Explaining their stance on Coutinho, FSG had released a statement stating, “We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.
“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”
Even manager Jurgen Klopp has reiterated on numerous occasions that Liverpool are not in a position where they have to sell players and added that Coutinho will be staying put at Anfield no matter what Barcelona end up offering.
Klopp had said, “Liverpool is not a club that has to sell players. That is set in stone. So what they pay in the end doesn’t matter.
“From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go. No price at which we are ready to give in. Our goal is to have the best possible team. So we want to keep our guys and add new ones. That is our plan.”
However, Coutinho has delivered a huge shock to Liverpool by handing in a transfer request and it is clear to see that the player is looking to force the Reds’ hand in order to earn a move to Barcelona.
With Coutinho currently unhappy, Liverpool will surely have no other option than to sell their prized asset and now according to reports from the Daily Record, it has been claimed that the Reds have set a price tag of around £137million for the Brazilian playmaker.
Liverpool are well aware that Barcelona received around £198 million from the transfer of Neymar and are allegedly looking to extract as much money as possible from the prospective sale of the player whom they do not want to lose.
