According to reports carried out by talkSPORT, Manchester City are currently eyeing up a move for Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets.
Manchester City have clearly made a huge impact during the current transfer window so far by spending in excess of £200million in order to acquire the services of the likes of Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Danilo and Benjamin Mendy.
Considering the huge spending spree, many now believe that City have become the favourites to claim the Premier League title during the upcoming campaign and it is hard to argue with such a belief as the Citizens currently possess plethora of stars in virtually every position.
City manager Pep Guardiola is a perfectionist though and he is allegedly still not happy with the current crop of players available at his disposal, with a host of names continually being linked with a move to the Blue half of Manchester over the past few days.
The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Gareth Bale have been mentioned as potential targets for City but now in fresh reports emerging out of England, claims are being made that Guardiola is keen on strengthening his midfield with the signing of Sergio Busquets from Barcelona.
Guardiola knows all about Busquets’ qualities, having handed him his debut at the Nou Camp and since then, the Spanish international has gone on to establish himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.
While Busquets remains a key player for Barcelona long after Guardiola’s departure, the 29-year-old has continually been linked with a move away from the Catalan giants and now a reunion with his former boss in England could well prove to be a possibility.
City recently sold Fernando while Fernandinho is entering the twilight of his career and as a result, City are currently in need of a new midfield player. Busquets would surely be a top class signing for City but it will be interesting to see if the English side are able to lure the La Masia product away from his boyhood club.
