Algerian footballer, Nabil Bentaleb has decided to join the north London club and has signed a five-year-contract with them. He will be playing with Tottenham Hotspur till 2020.
The professional footballer joined the club in September 2011 as a trialist. He graduated after two years from the academy and played his debut match at the Southampton in December of 2013.
He was called at the 50th minute of the game that was against Mousa Dembélé. The club won the game by 3-2.
His first goal for the academy came on 17 December in a game against Newcastle United during the fifth round of the Football League Club. His performance earned him much appreciation!
He made 35 appearances in all the games that were held and impressed the audience with his midfield attack.
One of his strongest points has to be his agility and smart thinking during the game!
It was first confirmed by the club by posting on its Twitter account the news of Bentaleb joining, and that they are very excited to welcome him.
Bentaleb also expressed his happiness on the micro-blogging website. He thanked his friends, family and fans for their support.
The 20-year-old was first recognised at the White Hart Lane where he gave an action-packed performance.
Born in Lille, a small town in France, Bentaleb has played 17 matches for Algeria.
He started playing football from a very young age. He used to learn the game at Lille, after being sent to Belgium to play alongside Mouscron. He was 15 then.
Though the young midfielder made his international debut only last year, his distinctive way of playing, has earned him much recognition.
He represented his home country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The playmaker has acquired 16 international caps throughout the tournament and also scored a couple of goals.
In November 2012, the 20-year-old footballer joined the France U19 and made his debut in a friendly match against Germany. He joined the game at half time, but unfortunately lost the game.
It is also said that on numerous occasions he has been approached by the Algerian Football Federation.
Some sources also claim that he had accepted the offer. Only last year, Tim Sherwood who is the manager for Tottenham Hotspur implied that The English Football Association is also interested in having the young footballer in their team.
This arrangement could not have worked because of the club’s strict application procedure and requirements for eligibility.
The midfielder has only last year announced that he would play internationally for Algeria.
Only a couple of days later, the Algeria coach, Vahid Halilhodžić called him to play a friendly match against Slovenia.
The young footballer scored his maiden goal for Algeria, his hometown, on 4 June 2014 against Romania at the Stade de Genève in Switzerland.
Throughout his international gaming career, the midfielder has played against teams such as Germany, South Korea, Russia and Belgium, among others.
