Newcastle United plotting double Arsenal swoop by approaching Lucas Perez and Jack Wilshere

According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United have made an approach for Arsenal duo Lucas Perez and Jack Wilshere.

Newcastle United have endured a largely disappointing time in the summer transfer window after missing out on a host of their top targets and their first game back in the Premier League ended in frustration as well after suffering a 2-0 home defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

It has to be said that Newcastle United were playing very well before Jonjo Shelvey idiotically got himself sent off for stamping on Dele Alli’s foot and having been reduced to ten men, the Magpies never stood a chance of mounting a challenge to the extremely talented Spurs side.

Newcastle certainly have a lot of spirit within their squad but they lack quality and with the injuries as well as suspension piling up, manager Rafa Benitez will surely be looking to strengthen his squad before the end of the transfer window.

A host of players have been linked with a move to Newcastle over the past few days and now according to reports from the Daily Mirror, revelations have been made that the Magpies are launching a double swoop to secure the services of Arsenal duo Lucas Perez and Jack Wilshere.

Perez struggled for regular first team football at Arsenal last season after arriving from Deportivo La Coruna and following the club record signing of Alexandre Lacazette, the Spaniard has been pushed further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

As for Wilshere, he has endured a injury plagued period over the past few seasons and while the midfielder did enjoy a regular run of first team football while at loan at Bournemouth last term, he is currently on the sidelines once again.

With Wilshere currently on the final year of his contract, it is expected that the England international will be leaving the Emirates and the Englishman along with Perez could be on their way to join Newcastle at St. James’ Park.
