Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has quashed rumors linking him with a move to Arsenal by penning a new five year deal with Borussia Dortmund
It was widely feared that Borussia Dortmund would have to deal with a mass summer exodus following the departure of long time manager Jurgen Klopp but fortunately for the fans of the German giants, it has not proven to be the case.
Dortmund have managed to keep hold of most of their key players such as Mats Hummels, Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan, and now in another huge boost for the German side, it has been confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has committed himself to a new five year deal at the club.
Following two fantastic seasons with Dortmund where he managed 42 goals in 95 appearances, Aubameyang had been widely tipped to leave the Signal Iduna Park this summer and Premier League giants Arsenal were said to be courting the services of the striker, with some reports even claiming that the Gunners were looking to place a bid in the region of around £30million.

Aubameyang signs a new deal with Dortmund
However to quash rumors linking Aubameyang to Arsenal, the striker has now penned a new five year deal at Dortmund and looks set to remain with the German side for the foreseeable future.
Confirming the contract on their official website, Dortmund released the following statement, “Borussia Dortmund have agreed to prematurely extend the contract of forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been coveted by a number of European clubs, until 30 June 2020. The speedy striker’s initial contract was set to expire in 2018.”
Aubameyang was also delighted to have been able to extend his stay at Dortmund and stated that despite all the rumors surrounding his future, he never thought about leaving the club.
The 26-year old said, “I’m absolutely delighted that the next years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund. I feel very happy at the club, in this team and in this city. BVB has become like a second home to me. Every part of me wants to be here and I have never wanted to leave.”
Aubameyang committing himself to a new contract is most certainly a huge boost for Dortmund and the German side will now start the upcoming Bundesliga campaign with reinvigorated energy under new manager Thomas Tuchel.
