According to reports from Football Italia, Southampton have agreed a £18million deal to acquire the service of Mario Lemina.
Southampton pulled off a major coup during the summer by appointing Mauricio Pellegrino as their new manager to replace Claude Puel and many believed at the time that the Argentine tactician would be bringing in a host of players from Spain to the St. Mary’s Stadium.
Surprisingly though, Southampton have not been very active in the transfer market so far and have only signed Jan Bednarek from Lech Poznan for around £5million this summer.
With less than a fortnight to go before the start of the upcoming Premier League campaign, Southampton’s squad looks more or less the same as it was last season and it will be interesting to see if Pellegrino decides to reinforce his squad in the coming days.
Virgil Van Dijk is widely expected to be leaving the St. Mary’s Stadium before the end of the summer transfer window and the Dutchman is bound to be joining either Chelsea or Liverpool.
From the expected sale of van Dijk, Southampton are expected to pocket at least around £50million and the Saints will surely be looking to reinvest the funds to strengthen various areas of their squad.
Now according to reports emerging out of Italy, claims are being made Southampton are set to finally complete their second summer signing by securing the services of Mario Lemina from Italian giants Juventus.
The reports claims that Southampton have agreed a deal of around £18million to sign Lemina and transfer of the Gabon international is expected to take place pretty quickly as he is already in England at the moment ahead of Juventus’ friendly against Tottenham Hotspur at the Wembley Stadium.
Lemina is undoubtedly a very talented young player but he has been unable to earn regular first team football for Juventus over the past few seasons and a transfer to Southampton will just be what the 23-year-old requires in order to fulfill his immense potential.
