Tottenham have reportedly made an enquiry for Sassuolo midfielder Alfred Duncan as the North London club look to further strengthen their squad before the transfer window slams shut.
Tottenham have so far completed only one signing this summer, with the acquisition of Davidson Sanchez from Ajax for around £42million and they are now looking to add another player in the form of Alfred Duncan into their team.
Sassuolo are reportedly demanding £14 million for the Ghanaian midfielder and Spurs will hope that they can complete the signing before the window shuts in about a week’s time.
Duncan has impressed in the Serie A for The Black and Greens during his time there and as a result, has attracted the attention of many European clubs, with Inter Milan and Tottenham leading the charge for his signature.
The former Inter player has been heavily linked with a move back to the San Siro all summer but it now looks like Spurs will be the ones to finalize the deal for the midfielder instead and bring him to the Premier League.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Everton star Ross Barkley throughout the window but after the Toffees slapped an asking price of £35 million, the North London side have been forced to look elsewhere.
Duncan might prove to be a shrewd acquisition for Mauricio Pochettino as he will come in at a much cheaper price than Barkley and will perhaps offer a similar level of quality as the England international.
Spurs will be hoping to finally win the title this term, after coming close for two seasons in a row. Many believe that while they have a starting 11 capable of challenging for the title, there are still doubts about the overall strength of the squad.
Nonetheless, with the likes of Davidson Sanchez and Alfred Duncan arriving, Spurs will surely have enough depth in their squad to challenge for the league title during the current campaign.
