Premier League side West Ham United have decided to terminate the contract of out of favour midfielder Morgan Amalfitano
Amalfitano had joined West Ham United at the start of last season and enjoyed a fruitful campaign under former manager Sam Allardyce, making 32 appearances and scoring 3 goals.
As a result of his good performances, Amalfitano was rewarded with a new two year contract at the Boleyn Ground and it was widely expected that the Frenchman would go on to play a key role for the Hammers during the current campaign as well.
However, Amalfitano did not get along with new boss Slaven Bilic and having fallen out with the Croatian manager during pre-season, the attacking midfielder was forced to train with the club’s under-21 squad.
Speaking regarding his fallout with Amalfitano earlier in the season, Bilic had said that he had to discipline the 30-year old due to a breach of rules.
Bilic told the London Evening Standard, “The news is out that I have disciplined one of my players – Morgan Amalfitano – for a breach of rules. I would just say that my first and foremost job is to protect the whole team – myself, the staff and players.

Amalfitano leaves West Ham
“If I see anything or anyone threatening to harm the atmosphere and transgress those rules, then it has to be stopped.
“I haven’t changed much – Sam Allardyce had some great rules, and I am sure they haven’t changed for a long time. They are basic rules and if they are under threat, then I have to step in. I have to protect the team.”
Unsurprisingly, Amalfitano had not featured at all for West Ham United this season and it can now be confirmed that the Premier League side have decided to terminate the attacking midfielder’s contract at the Boleyn Ground.
Confirming the departure of Amalfitano, West Ham released the following statement on their official website, “West Ham United can confirm that Morgan Amalfitano has left the Club by mutual consent.
“The 30-year-old midfielder has departed the Club after 13 months at the Boleyn Ground, in which he made 32 appearances and scored three goals.
“The Hammers would like to thank Morgan for his efforts during his time with the Club and wish him well in his future career.”
It is now widely believed that Amalfitano will be making a return back to France and a host of clubs from Ligue 1 have already expressed their interest in signing the 30-year old.
